Sochaux are set to return with a third offer for Maurice Edu after Rangers turned down a bid of £1million.
The French club are determined to bring in the USA international midfielder and are expected to return with another bid which will be closer to the £2million Rangers value him at.
Sochaux put up £575,000 for Edu last week which Rangers quickly rejected and club president Alexandre Lacombe is intent on upping the ante so they can get their man.
"But we haven't given up.
"The Edu deal is close. We don't believe we are far away from Rangers' valuation and could have more talks.""Rangers asked us to make our final offer for Edu. We made our bid and they said 'no'," he said.
