Norwich City fought off Rangers' interest in Grant Holt yesterday.
The Scottish Sun says Gers failed in a £1m swoop to replace him with Norwich City star Holt in a massive blow to boss Ally McCoist.
Ibrox owner Craig Whyte refused to make the Premiership club an offer they couldn't refuse.
Holt is understood to have been pushing for a move north.
