Rangers players in dreamland with Gascoigne's pre-match visit

Rangers players were treated to a pre-match visit by former star midfielder Paul Gascoigne on Saturday.

The 44-year old ex-England ace was a special guest at Ibrox for the St Mirren clash on the weekend and although 'Gers were held to a 1-1 draw, veteran Lee McCulloch said it was great for the playing group to get to meet somebody of the quality of Gascoigne.

"He came into the dressing room and he wished the boys all the best before the game," he said.

"A few of us got pictures taken and got a few things signed.

"It was a great experience to see him. It gave us a bit of a lift because he was talking away to everyone like he was still one of the boys.

"He was one of my heroes when he was playing here - just a genius, brilliant to watch. When you've a character like that in the dressing room it's great and I'm sure everyone's delighted to see him around again.

"When he was on the park at the interval me and the rest of the subs gave him a good round of applause.

"That's the respect he gained when he was here and I though the reception he got from the fans said everything about how they still fee.

"I actually played against him a couple of times when I was with Motherwell. And before you ask, he didn't remember me!"
