Rangers pay tribute to retiring Man Utd boss Ferguson

Scottish club Rangers have released a statement paying tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson for his remarkable career.

The 71-year old Scot will end his 26-year reign as United boss at the end of the season and in doing so, has prompted frenzied praise from the football community, including Glasgow giants Rangers.

"Rangers would like to acknowledge Sir Alex Ferguson's truly astonishing contribution to Scottish, British and World football," read the statement on the club's official website.

"Sir Alex deserves his place in the pantheon of greats and this Club would like to congratulate him on a wonderful, trophy laden career.

"We hope he enjoys his retirement with his family but the manner in which he dominated the game in Britain will be remembered for ever. Rangers salute Sir Alex."
