Rangers owner Craig Whyte has revealed that the club were unable to turn down the bid from Everton for striker Nikica Jelavic.
The Croatian international signed with the Toffees on deadline day for a fee of around £5million and Whyte said that sort of money, doubled with the fact that Jelavic wanted to head to the Premier League, gave 'Gers no choice in the matter.
"Two, the club is simply not in a financial position to turn down offers for players which give the club a good return on its original investment.""One, the player wanted to leave and there is no point in trying to keep a player who no longer wants to be at Ibrox," he said in an open letter to supports on the club's official website.
