Rangers owner Green agrees to 12-month transfer ban in order to get SFA licence

Rangers owner Charles Green has reluctantly agreed to have a 12-month transfer embargo placed on the club so they can obtain a Scottish Football Association licence.

The Glasgow club, who plummeted into liquidation earlier this summer, need to sign a licence allowing them to play in Scotland's Football League but Green had to say yes to the previously implemented transfer ban before anything could go ahead.

Positive meetings were held between 'Gers hierarchy and SFA officials yesterday with Green hoping that the club's membership into the SFA will soon be finalised so the Ibrox outfit can compete in the Third Division next season.

"I'm really hopeful now that within the next 24 hours we can have this thing signed and sealed," Green said.

Rangers' transfer ban will commence on September 1 giving the club just over a month to get a competitive squad together for Scotland's fourth tier.
