Scottish champions Rangers are now looking at bringing USA national team captain Carlos Bocanegra to Ibrox. 'Gers boss Ally McCoist is desperate to fill the void in central defence left by the recently-departed Madjid Bougherra and is hoping he can lure Bocanegra from French club Saint-Etienne.
The 32-year old would reportedly only cost Rangers around £400,000 and it is believed that McCoist wants to try and complete the deal prior to his clubs Europa League group stage qualifier against Maribor in Slovenia on Thursday.
Bocanegra would provide great experience at the back for the Glasgow giants as he has extensive English Premier League know-how with Fulham, where he spent four-and-a-half years, and has won 93 caps for the USA.
'Gers have also been showing recent interest in Bocanegra's national teammate Alejandro Bedoya who is currently playing in the midfield for Swedish club Orebro.
