Rangers' Naismith sidelined for rest of season

Rangers striker Steven Naismith is almost certain to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing scans on his knee yesterday.

The Scotland international has damaged the cruciate ligament in his right knee following a seemingly innocuous challenge with Aberdeen midfielder Rob Milsom on the weekend.

Naismith collapsed moments after the incident and had to be stretchered form the Pittodrie pitch and last night Rangers' worst fears were shown to be true with their nine-goal talisman out of action until seasons end.

It is the second serious knee injury Naismith has sustained in recent time with a problem in 2008 keeping him out for eight months.
