Rangers midfielder Edu maintaining positive outlook

Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu says he will remain positive despite a big dip in form in recent weeks.

The 25-year old USA international has remained in the 'Gers first team during their run towards the title but has not been at his best which he admits.

Edu has not scored in 15 matches for the Glasgow giants but says he will remain focused and upbeat as he strives to help his side grab a third-straight Scottish title.

"There will always be periods when you have ups and downs but as long as you stay mentally strong and you still have the desire to win that can carry you a long way," said Edu.

"It's been an up-and-down season for me. I felt I started pretty strongly but I've had a bit of a dip in form recently. That's part of the game though.

"It's important for me to keep my head and keep working hard for the team. Sometimes you hit a bad patch of form and it would be easy for your head to drop.

"But if things aren't going well for you technically there are still things that you can contribute to the team. You can make up for it in some way with work-rate and effort.

"Right now, I'm just trying to keep focused on working hard for the team and trying to get myself out of this bit of a funk that I'm in.

"I'm a confident individual and I believe in myself and my ability.

"When you go through these patches of form it is definitely difficult and it can be frustrating but you have to remain confident and believe in yourself.

"It's difficult at times but I'm confident and I know I'll get myself out of this situation. I just hope it's sooner rather than later."
