Rangers midfielder Black cops three-match ban for betting breaches

Rangers midfielder Ian Black has been issued a three-match, with seven suspended, for breaching Scottish football's betting rules.

The 28-year old former Heart of Midlothian and Inverness man, who has also received a £7,500 fine, placed bets on his then-registered club not to win three times between 4 March 2006 and 28 July 2013.

Black, who is the first player in Scotland to be sanctioned for gambling, also admitted to betting on a further 10 matches which involved his own club and received a warning over bets he placed on a further 147 fixtures.

His seven-match suspended sanction will come into effect if he breaks the gambling rules again this season.
