Rangers manager McCoist ‘devastated’ after hearing news of Speed
Rangers boss Ally McCoist says he was left ‘devastated’ by news that Gary Speed had tragically passed away.
The Wales manager’s death has been met with shock and disbelief by those who knew him well and McCoist spoke about the promising tactician following his side’s loss to Kilmarnock yesterday.
"I'm absolutely devastated,” said McCoist.
"I just cannot get my head round it. He was just a good guy, a great guy.
"It sounds crazy and it's a stupid thing to say but he was probably the most intelligent guy to ever have come on A Question of Sport. His sporting knowledge was incredible.
"I know in the grand scheme of things that's a ridiculous thing to say but that's just something that sticks in my head.
"He was always an absolute gentleman. He seemed everything you would want in a human being.
"He had good manners, respect, everything.
"We found out just before the game and I thought it must have been a mistake. Sadly it wasn't."
