Rangers legend Ferguson wants long-term Perth Glory deal

Ian Ferguson wants a new, multi-year contract to turn Perth Glory into an Asian powerhouse.

The Rangers legend has masterminded an amazing turnaround at Glory this season, with the Perth club now genuine title contenders and big crowds returning to games.

The Scotsman wants more than just a one-year extension in order to ensure the progress made this season won't be lost.

"If I get a new contract, I want a two to three year deal where we can try and take this club forward, where this club is going to be a top-six regular and not a yo-yo club,'' Ferguson told the West Australian.

"(Club owner) Tony (Sage) knows my plans and knows my feelings.

"I'm not going to put pressure on anybody. Tony's been great.

"Ten or 11 weeks ago I was under a lot of pressure where a lot of people were calling for my head and he could have easily put me out the door, but he didn't.

"He stuck by me and it's great things have turned around.''
