Rangers will learn whether or not they will be playing in the Scottish Premier League next season at a meeting on July 4.
The Glasgow outfit could reformed as a newco after falling into liquidation last week but it is not yet known if they will compete in Scotland's top flight or be forced down to the Third Division.
An SPL statement read that 'The Rangers FC' had submitted an application to play in the top competition but will now learn their fate when all the clubs get together to make a vote.
"Consideration of the application will depend on receipt by the SPL Board of all required documentation and verification.
"A general meeting of all 12 member clubs has been convened for 10am on Wednesday 4 July 2012 for members to decide whether to approve the transfer.""An application for registration of transfer of Rangers' SPL share has been received," read the statement.
