Rangers boss Walter Smith paid tribute to Kenny Miller and Steven Davis for inspiring Rangers to a 7-1 thumping of Hamilton. Ironically Hamilton took an early lead but Martin Canning's dismissal early in the second half sealed the bottom club's fate.
Smith said: "In the last couple of weeks, we have missed Steven Davis and Kenny Miller; they both supply us with a good level of play and variety.
"There are no excuses for not winning against Hearts last week - we should have had enough to cover - you could see that we missed them and they both had a good performance today."
Smith added: "We have been playing very well football-wise over the season but we have had a little bit of inconsistency in a couple of games.
"There is a frustration in us at the moment because we have been playing well enough but not consistently enough. That's where Celtic have had the advantage."
