Rangers great Weir tipping Jelavic, Naismith to fire at Everton

Former Rangers captain David Weir is of the belief that Nikica Jelavic and Steven Naismith can pick up where they left off now they are both at Everton.

Today's capture of 25-year old Scotland forward Naismith from 'Gers reunites the strike pair at Goodison Park after Jelavic's January move and Weir, now on the coaching staff with the Toffees, can see it being a successful relationship on Merseyside as it was in Glasgow.

"When they played together they did very well and obviously they can combine," Weir told the club's official website.

"Steven can play in a number of positions and contribute in different areas. He's got a lot of strings to his bow.

"The fact that he can play with Nikica is an obvious benefit though and it's a nice one to have up his sleeve for the manager, I'm sure.

"He's a good all-round footballer," he addeed. "He's a fit lad, he works hard - which is obviously a necessity at Everton - he's capable of getting a goal, he's very good in the air and I think he'll be a good signing for us.

"He's a talented lad, he's played to a top level with Rangers in Europe and with Scotland and I think he'll add to the team."
