Rangers’ Goian turns down big-money move to China

Rangers defender Dorin Goian has rejected a lucrative transfer to the Chinese Super League.

Rangers defender Dorin Goian has rejected a lucrative transfer to the Chinese Super League.

The 31-year old Romanian centre-back was being lined up by an unnamed club in China who were set to double wages after he was forced to take a 75% pay cut at Ibrox.

But Goian’s agent Florin Manea has revealed his client will not head to China to join his brother Lucian who plays for Tianjin Teda.

"Dorin would have doubled the wages he received at Rangers. They would have paid him £1.5million a year,” Manea said.

"But he decided not to go because he likes it at Rangers.

"He also thought if he played in China, it would have meant he might not get picked for the Romanian team.
