Rangers favourite McCulloch retires from Scotland

Rangers star Lee McCulloch has announced his retirement from international football. After 15 caps and one goal against Ukraine last year, the 30-year-old has decided to concentrate on his club career.

Press reports had claimed McCulloch was refusing to play under Scotland boss George Burley. However, suggestions of a rift were refuted by the Scottish FA who cited fitness reasons behind the injury-plagued midfielder's decision.

"Lee has been considering his future since around the time of the Italy game," said a SFA spokesperson.

"He wants to concentrate on club football and getting back to full fitness and playing for his club.

"He assured the manager it was nothing personal."
