Rangers boss Walter Smith has extended the loan of Wigan defender Andy Webster to January.

The 25-year-old Scotland defender joined Rangers in January but sustained a knee injury in his first training session which forced him to miss the rest of the season.

He returned to action and made his Rangers debut in the post-season friendly against LA Galaxy, and Smith has moved to extend the loan arrangement with a view to making the deal permanent.
