Rangers' Edu revels in Old Firm winner

Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu was over the moon after he netted the winner against Celtic in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.

The USA international’s 90th minute goal was the difference as Rangers extended their lead to ten points over their Old Firm rivals, putting one hand around the SPL trophy.

Edu said the feeling of scoring the winner in Scottish football’s biggest rivalry was second to none, especially after all of his injury woes and recent racial vilification against him.

“It’s the best feeling,” he said after the match. “For me, with everything that has gone on with injuries, to get back into the side, well, that was good itself. But to get the game winner was unbelievable.

“This is the most exciting moment of my career (with the World Cup approaching).

“You have times when things are hard to deal with but you find a way to get on with it.”

And Edu added that Rangers were well up for winning another title.

“The team has the motivation, the desire. You have to show it every day when you walk on the pitch. The boys will be up for it.”
