Rangers' Edu eagerly anticipating Champions League

Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu just wants the Uefa Champions League to get under way. The draw for the group stage will be made this weekend following this week's final qualifiers and the USA international cannot wait to get into action in Europe's premier club competition with the reigning Scottish champions.

"I think everybody is excited about being in the Champions League," Edu told the Evening Times. "It's the biggest competition there is at club level and hopefully we can advance from the group stage."

Edu admitted he would love to draw English club Arsenal but if that fails to eventuate, would take any big British club which would be a big bonus for the fans.

"Who would I like to get? Well, I have always been a fan of Arsenal and to play at the Emirates would be amazing," he added.

"After that, there are a lot of great teams but, in saying that, you want to have a favourable group as well. I think everybody would love to see us get a British club in the draw, but the way it stands I think we are going to get a big team regardless.

"But the fans are going to be excited to watch the games and we will all be excited to play in them.

"In all honesty, it doesn't matter who we get, the Champions League in itself is a special stage to play on and for me it will be my first time. To be a part of it will be great and I'm really looking forward to it."
