Rangers are closing in on Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar.
The Birmingham Mail says Cuellar's representatives are currently discussing the Spanish defender's personal terms with Rangers after Aston Villa accepted a £2 million bid from the Ibrox giants.
Contrary to reports, Villa have received no interest from La Liga club Espanyol for Cuellar, who is 29 years old and has just 12 months left on his contract.
If Cuellar is unable to agree a satisfactory wage-package with former club Rangers he is likely to stay at Villa for a final year.
