Rangers defender Cuellar fumes over fixture chaos

Rangers will face four games in the final eight days regardless of whether they make the UEFA Cup Final or not and Cuellar is disappointed more could not be done to help their European campaign.

He said: "It's incredible that our own league can make things so difficult for us when we are trying to represent Scotland in Europe. This would not happen anywhere else. The situation is crazy. I can't believe how things work in this country."

"In every other league in Europe the authorities would do everything possible to help one of their teams if they were in this situation. In this country they do everything they can to make life more difficult for us.

"I can understand why Celtic will be happy. They will want us to play as many games as possible in a short space of time because there will be a chance that injuries and tiredness will affect our performances. Their chances of winning the league will be greater that way."

Having narrowly failed to reach the UEFA Cup final last season with Osasuna, Cuellar is determined to go one step further this year and knock out Fiorentina.

"I missed out on the UEFA Cup Final last season and it was one of the biggest disappointments of my career. I don't want to feel like that again.

"I don't believe Fiorentina will knock us out. I have always felt we will win four trophies this season and that's still the way I think even if we have problems with injuries and suspensions and a lot of games to play. We are confident."
