Rangers could play final four games in eight days

The SPL fixture crisis could force Rangers into playing four of their final five league games in the space of just eight days.

The Daily Record understands that SPL bosses believe that it will be the only way to ensure the league is not extended beyond the final round of matches on 18th May.

Rangers face a potential 19 remaining games this season and unless they are knocked out of either the Scottish or UEFA Cups they will only have one remaining free midweek this season.

Within that busy schedule, the Ibrox club need to find dates to squeeze in two postponed ties against Motherwell and St Mirren.

Christian Dailly, meanwhile, has revealed that the players have turned to ice baths to help get them through the fixture pile-up.

Dailly, 34, remains supremely fit and praised the role played by Ibrox sports scientist Adam Owen.

"Adam has been different class," Dailly said. "He is brilliant and on at people all the time.

"We're in and out of ice baths all the time and we're eating recovery food almost as soon as we're coming off the training ground and matches.

"It's a huge part of being able to play in the games. You have to be able to look after yourself properly.

"That's where people like him come in. The whole coaching staff here are very good at making sure that players are prepared properly for every game.

"I try most things pretty much as soon as I hear about them.

"If you do it properly, you can play for a long time. And if you do it, as I have done, from a younger age, your body definitely ages a bit slower and you can play a bit longer."
