Rangers cop 10-point deduction

Reigning Scottish champions Rangers have been hit with a 10-point deduction after being entered into administration.

The Glasgow club has been forced to appoint administrators as they battle a potential tax bill of £75million and have now lost a massive 10 points from their current total, effectively handing the title to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

"As Rangers FC is subject to an Insolvency Event, a ten point deduction has been applied to its total points in the League Championship for the current Season," read a Scottish Premier League statement.

"In addition, Rangers FC is subject to restrictions on the registration of Players with the SPL whilst in administration.

"We are seeking an early meeting with the Administrators."

'Gers have now dropped 14 points behind Celtic after 26 matches and sit just nine clear of third-placed Motherwell.
