Rangers in contract setback for Liverpool, Everton target McKay

Everton and Liverpool are monitoring Barrie McKay's situation at Rangers.

The Scottish Sun says SFA chiefs have told Rangers to FORGET handing McKay a five-year deal.

Hampden rules prevent clubs giving contracts of more than three years to players before their 18th birthday.

Boss Ally McCoist must now decide whether to give 17-year-old McKay a shorter deal or delay the five-year one until his next birthday. Liverpool and Everton have been credited with interest in the top prospect this week.
