Rangers coach McDowall says Liverpool's Wilson needs loan move

Rangers coach Kenny McDowall doesn't blame Danny Wilson for making the move to Liverpool.

The stopper's career at Anfield has stalled - with just one Premiership start for the Reds since his move 15 months ago.

McDowall told the Scottish Sun: "It's a very difficult decision for young lads when you are put in that situation.

"You are playing at a massive club here then Liverpool come in.

"Danny might have been offered the sort of money you can't turn your back on.

"With hindsight it's easy to say he could have stayed here, but he might have missed the boat with Liverpool.

"I'm sure Danny will get there eventually, he's at a big club at a young age, he has time on his side and I'm sure he'll get there because he has good ability.

"He probably needs to go out on loan. I'm sure Liverpool will be looking for him to go on loan as well.

"Danny needs to go out and get experience, whether it's the Championship or wherever."
