Rangers chief executive Charles Green is now waiting on an answer from Walter Smith after holding further talks with the Ibrox great.
Green is keen to have former manager Smith on the 'Gers board with a non-executive director's role on the table and a decision is expected to be made soon.
Record Sport reports that Green has officially opened talks with Smith which have heightened over the past couple of days but the nine-in-a-row winning boss has not yet committed.
