Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot was relieved to be absolved from any blame for the injury caused to Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia on Tuesday night.
The 26-year old challenged the Ecuadorian in the scoreless Champions League draw at Old Trafford which ended in a badly broken leg for Valencia.
The incident seemed innocuous and Broadfoot was in shock as he saw the damage but was also relieved when United's Wayne Rooney said he had done no wrong.
"I'm not exactly sure what happened," Broadfoot said.
"I slid in and I thought I took the ball. I turned around and looked down and all I could see was his bone sticking out.
"But Wayne came up to me and said don't worry about it. He said these things happen in the game and it was a fair tackle. What Wayne said made me feel a lot better."
