Rangers to break fourth tier attendance record

Rangers are set to break the world record for the highest attendance at a fourth tier match when they host East Stirling tomorrow in their first home match of the season.

The Glasgow giants are now competing in Scotland's Third Division and an expected crowd of well over 40,000 will see them smash Crystal Palace's current record of 37,774 set in England's Fourth Division against Millwall in 1961.

"We will comfortably get past the 40,000 mark and the attendance could be in the mid-to-high 40,000s," said a 'Gers spokesman.

Rangers have already sold 30,0000 season tickets this campaign despite dropping three divisions lower than the Scottish Premier League and this weekend's attendance may even break the entire five-game attendance figures for last week's SPL fixtures which totalled 40,383.
