Kris Boyd has denied Merouane Zemmama's accusations of deliberately elbowing the Hibernian player in Rangers 3-0 win at the weekend. Zemmama claimed Boyd, who was booked for the incident just before half-time, knew exactly what he was doing and suggested he should have been sent off.

But Boyd told the Scottish Sun: "These things happen in football. It's a man's game and you get on with it. I know I caught Zemmama but it wasn't as though I set out to hurt him. I'm just not that kind of player.

"The fact is, if I moaned every time I got hit I'd never be out of the papers."

He added: "I'm sure in future I will get caught with something similar - it happens. I didn't mean to touch him. Maybe he is just disappointed by the result and looking for any excuse to deflect from that fact."

Zemmama also accused Boyd's strike partner Kenny Miller of diving to win the penalty for Rangers' second goal.

Boyd said: "I actually find it astonishing that somebody like Zemmama, who nine times out of 10 goes down when he's hardly been touched, can point the finger at Kenny.

"Don't get me wrong, I did catch Zemmama and there is no denying that, even if it was accidental. But when you look at other challenges on him on Sunday, he fell about like he'd been shot.

"I think for him to have a go at Kenny is like the pot calling the kettle black."
