Rangers boss Smith takes pot shot at Celtic

Rangers manager Walter Smith took a shot at Celtic after yesterday’s scoreless draw in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox.

‘Gers managed to hold onto the 0-0 draw despite conceding a penalty in the 82nd minute but Allan McGregor came up with a top save from Georgios Samaras’ spot kick to help the club remain top of the Scottish Premier League table.

Smith lashed out at the Hoops in the post-match press conference, saying that they basically asked for the penalty to be given when Anthony Stokes crashed into Rangers defender Steven Davis after cutting into the box lat in the piece.

"It's not a penalty kick. But they got it and Allan McGregor saved it and Celtic will be happy now because their whole campaign this season has been the fact they have been asking for decisions,” he said.

"Well, they got one today and Allan McGregor saved it. That's it. The whole of the season, all we have heard is that Celtic don't get penalty kicks.

"They got one today and they tried to get another one as well and both of them were exactly the same in my mind - both of the players ran into the players and they weren't penalties."
