Rangers boss Walter Smith is hopeful FIFA will allow Daniel Cousin to join Fulham in a £3million deal.
The two clubs agreed a fee for the Gabon international on Monday but the move hit a hitch as FIFA don't normally allow players to play for three clubs in a season.
But Smith hopes a deal will be pushed through as the 30-year-old striker only played 20 minutes of action for former club Lens before joining the Gers in August.
Smith told Rangers TV: "The Cousin deal is in the balance but we are hopeful that FIFA will look at the situation sympathetically.
"The player has expressed a desire to play in the Premiership and it is better for all concerned that the deal goes through."
