"Even at the start of last season he was getting a bit of stick and he went on to get them their best finish in the league for a number of years. For managers just now it's just a situation we have to accept and get on with. It's an aspect of the game nowadays that I don't really understand but that's a manager's life now.
"It doesn't matter what you do the previous season, if you don't start the next one in a manner the fans think is acceptable you come under pressure.
