Walter Smith has confirmed his interest in Aston Villa striker Luke Moore but the Rangers manager is likely to hold off until the summer before making his move.
But Martin O'Neill has already stated he would be unwilling to let the player go for less than £3.5million.
Of a potential swoop for Moore, Smith said: "A fee has never been discussed. I did make an enquiry about the player's situation because he'd been out the team.
"I just wanted to know if they we willing to sell him and Martin told me he was going back into their team, which he did do."
Asked whether Moore could still be a target in the summer, Smith added: "Yes, possibly. I saw him play a few years ago when I was at Everton and he was just coming into the youth team. He looked like a good player."
