Rangers poor start to the European season could get worse as Ally McCoist gets set to deal with a threadbare backline for tomorrow night's first leg play-off clash with Maribor.
The reigning Scottish champions have already been bundled out of the Champions League after two mediocre performances against Swedish club Malmo and will now have to navigate the Slovenians if they want to compete in the group stage of the Europa League.
But they will be required to do so without veteran David Weir and Arsenal loanee Kyle Bartley, who are both injured, and wingback Steven Whittaker who is suspended.
Add to that the recent departure of Madjid Bougherra and McCoist has some problems in defence with midfielder Lee McCulloch the only player who can be thrown into a central defensive position alongside new signing Dorin Goian.
