Novo told the Daily Record: "I'm still struggling to get over the disappointment.
"It's great to see my friends and family again and I'll stay here for a few days because we have some time off. But the disappointment I'm feeling will take a while to go away.
"My family are proud of me because I left Spain as a player that no one had heard of. But I returned to the Nou Camp as a Rangers player in the Champions League.
"Joan Laporta gave me a cuddle after the match and told me I had played well in both games. That was very nice of him and we shared a wee joke.
"And the legendary former Barca player Bakero said on Spanish TV that he was very surprised I didn't start the match.
"When you hear someone like Bakero saying such nice things about you then it makes you feel stronger.
"Even so, it will take me a few days to get over this disappointment.
"I don't think there is anything more I could have done to prove I was worth my place in the team. But it's up to the manager and the coaches to make the big decisions.
"All I can say is that everyone knows where my heart is and that's why I'm hurting right now."
