Old Firm rivals Rangers and Celtic are both showing considerable interest in Dundee United's Gavin Gunning according to the Daily Express.
The 22-year old Irish centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season and both the 'Gers and Hoops could open pre-contract talks in January.
It is believed that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is keen to bring in defensive back-up for Virgil van Dijk and Efe Ambrose while Rangers gaffer Ally McCoist will need a replacement for veteran Lee McCulloch and possibly for Emilson Cribari who is in the final year of his Ibrox deal.
