Rangers hope to bring Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar back to Ibrox.
The Daily Record says Cuellar is set to be offloaded by Aston Villa next month.
That will alert Ally McCoist who tried to lure Cuellar back to Ibrox in the summer. The deal collapsed when Cuellar was unable to agree personal terms.
But the 30-year-old has since found himself on the periphery of the squad at Villa Park with Alex McLeish only using the Spaniard twice this season.
