Rangers have jumped back to the top of the SPL table thanks to a 2-1 win over St Mirren today. 'Gers scored once either side of half-time to get the points at Ibrox and move one point clear of title rivals Celtic who meet Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-final tomorrow.
Sasa Papac opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when he fired home a deflection from Kyle Lafferty's attempt, five minutes before Darren McGregor volleyed home to level for the Buddies.
But Rangers managed to fight back when St Mirren's John Potter brought down Nikica Jelavic in the area, forcing Euan Norris to point to the penalty spot.
Steven Whittaker stepped up to the spot and put it past Paul Gallacher to make it 2-1 which ended up being the final score.
In today's other SPL match, Inverness Caledonian Thistle drew 1-1 with Heart of Midlothian whilst Motherwell booked their spot in the Scottish Cup final with a 3-0 victory over St Johnstone in the semi-final at Hampden Park.
