Ramsey happy with current state of Arsenal midfield

Aaron Ramsey feels that the Arsenal midfield is currently in a very strong position with competition for spots in the first team benefitting those in the mix.

The Wales skipper feels that the addition of the likes of Mikel Arteta from Everton as well as young duo Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin from the youth academy has the Gunners midfielders working hard to earn their right to start under Arsene Wenger.

"Obviously there have been a few players that have left the club but a few have come in," he told Arsenal Player on the loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

"I think we still have quality in the squad, and one that is very dangerous going forward.

"[Arteta] has fantastic technique and he can pass the ball really well so he will definitely bring that to the team.

"He can create opportunities and he will bring his own style which will hopefully help us."

On the youngsters he added: "They've done well. They are always eager to play and train extremely hard.

"It means there's a bit of competition in there now and everybody is working hard.

"Everybody is keeping each other on their toes I think and it's nice to have that competition.

"We're a very young midfield and we'll only get better with more games.

"I think this midfield will be around for a while and we can continue to get better and better to be able to dominate games."
