Aaron Ramsey was thrilled to help Arsenal produce a wining start in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Welshman scored his sixth goal in six Gunners outings in their 2-1 win at Marseille to record an invaluable three points in Group F and he was delighted with another victorious outcome.

"We have a tough group. It was vital to get three points and get off to a good start here," he told Sky Sports.

"It was a difficult night, the pitch was sticky and slow, we didn't quite get the rhythm in our passing going and the quick pace as we pass it.

"In the end I think we deserved it."

Ramsey, who netted a double in Saturday’s 3-1 league win at Sunderland, added: "I'm happy with the way I'm playing at the moment.

"I'm playing with confidence and I'm getting into positions and putting them away.

"I felt like I have been getting into the these positions throughout my career but perhaps I have not had the composure which I now seem to be doing."
