Ramsey backing Merida, Eastmond to join him in Arsenal first team

Aaron Ramsey hopes several of his Arsenal youth teammates can join him in the first team.

Ramsey, who turns 19 on Boxing Day, wants to push on for a brighter and better 2010 in the top flight.

He told the News of the World: "You benefit from training with amazing players and you make different bonds. I'm friends with Nicolas Bendtner, Theo Walcott and Kieran Gibbs - the youngest players in the squad.

"And we have some great talent coming through with the likes of Jack Wilshire, Fran Merida and Craig Eastmond.

"I hope we can all prove we are worthy of getting into the first team.

"Of course, it was surreal when I first joined and trained with so many world-class players. It took a few months to settle in but now I feel part of the club."
