Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos says he's putting friendship aside to help Spain defeat Portugal in their World Cup clash.

Ramos has been swapping terse texts with Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo leading up to the showdown.

"I would've liked to have faced them later, but the match will be good and I'll give everything to eliminate Portugal. I'm sorry for Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe, but we'll meet up in Madrid, when Spain have the World Cup again!" declared Ramos.
