USA U20 head coach Tab Ramos is of the belief that his side can knock off Spain in their FIFA U20 World Cup opener on Friday.

The US take on Albert Celades’ La Rojita at the Turk Telekom Arena in Istanbul in their first Group A outing and Ramos feels there could be a slight upset on the cards.

"The thing about Spain is they play the same way in all age groups," Ramos told reporters.

"We just saw the U-21 team win the European Championships [with a 4-2 victory over Italy in Israel] a few hours ago, playing the same way as the first team.

"We've gotten to know this particular U-20 team in the way they play. It's something that is very difficult for us and something we're going to have to deal with."

And Ramos said he will show the players some footage from the US senior sides 2-0 victory over Spain at the 2009 Confederations Cup in order to motivate them towards a victory.

"It's a game we'd like to go back to," he added. "We're probably going to show a little bit of that video to the players to make sure they remember.

“Our first team upset Spain four years ago, and there's no reason we can't do that same thing on Friday."
