Ramos: I want to take Spurs to the top

Juande Ramos has been unveiled as Spurs manager and immediately said he wants to take the club "to the top".

"I want to take it step by step. I want to get results quickly to breed confidence and then I can think about the long-term. But this is a great club and the aim is to take us to the top," said Ramos through a translator.

"I've only just landed. I need to look at the players and depth of the squad before we think about buying."

He also revealed that he turned down approaches from other Premier League clubs in the summer, but said: "This is the right time for me to join Tottenham and I'm very happy to be here."

The Spaniard ended the press conference with a few words in English, explaining: "On the training pitch I speak English and the players understand me perfectly.

"But I am still learning and I preferred to face the media with a translator."
