Super agent Mino Raiola admits he tried to get Antonio Conte into AC Milan. Conte left Juventus in the summer before eventually taking the Italy job.
"Antonio Conte would have been ideal for the projects of the Rossoneri and I courted him with insistence over those weeks," said Raiola.
"I thought I'd convinced him, but in the long run he didn't feel like taking such a big step.
"Antonio remained fundamentally tied to the Bianconeri world and chose to avoid such a stark break with his history as a footballer and as a Coach.
"Starting again from Milan would have been stimulating, but dangerous from the point of view of the environment he would have found himself in.
"Instead the experience with the national team allows him to take up a neutral role, which may be what he needed."
