Super agent Mino Raiola has confirmed Manchester City failed in an attempt to sign AC Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel.
The Dutchman made the revelation yesterday.
"City wanted him to cover the absence of Yaya Toure during the African Cup of Nations," said Raiola.
"They also know that Van Bommel and Nigel De Jong form an excellent partnership.
"However, Milan were very clear in their message that Van Bommel was not for sale under any circumstances."
