Raft of trialists under the microscope at Aberdeen

Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee will assess a total of six trialists during their weekend friendlies against Fraserburgh and Peterhead. Most of the players have been training with the Dons for at least one week and will get a run-out on either Saturday or Sunday.

McGhee has two left-backs to run the rule over - Wales Under-21 international Grant Basey, who played for Charlton last season, and 25-year-old Robbie Williams, who was released by Huddersfield this summer.

Midfielder Yoann Folly is also on trial while former West Ham youth player Conor Okus remains at the club.

Former Carlisle and Darlington left winger Jeff Smith and Pakistan international Adnan Ahmed, a former Manchester United youth who played for Ferencvaros last season, make up the half dozen.

McGhee said: "There is no centre-half or centre-forward, which are positions we are looking to fill, so there is still a lot of work to do."
