Liverpool have lost out to PSV Eindhoven in the race for a Nigerian whizkid.
The Daily Star says Rabiu Ibrahim has been on the Reds' radar since starring for Under-17 World Cup winning Nigeria in 2007.
Liverpool were ready to move in after glowing reports on the 20-year-old from director of football strategy Damien Comolli.
Ibrahim was available on a free after turning down a professional contract at Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
But he has agreed to join Dutch league leaders PSV Eindhoven instead of Liverpool due to concerns his first-team chances would be limited at Anfield.
