Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is delighted with their capture of Marseille captain Lorik Cana.
"Lorik is a signing of real quality," Quinn told SAFC TV.
"He has terrific leadership qualities as captain of Marseille and his country, he has a good strong engine and I think the fans will like the way he gets around the pitch and gets involved.
"I'm delighted we got him - other clubs were interested so fair play to the staff behind the scenes here who managed to get him in as quickly as we did.
"He is a welcome addition."
On former Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell, Quinn added: "I am very pleased Fraizer chose us, as he is a player with electrifying pace and great potential.
"He wants to be an England player and I'm delighted he will be trying to achieve that with us."
